Wakefield Trinity LFC Confirm Promotion to Tier 5
Wakefield Trinity Ladies Football Club can confirm officially that they have been promoted to the North-East Regional Women’s Football League Premier in Tier 5 of the pyramid.
Jordan Hartley’s side have seen their last two league campaigns curtailed as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic, on the first occasion they placed second to Sheffield Wednesday, and were unbeaten in the most recent season at the point of curtailment.
The NERWFL confirmed that they would promote two clubs to the Premier from the North and South divisions, with Trinity hoping to be one of the teams who benefit.
Following a detailed application that took into account past performance, club structure, facilities and off-pitch activities in the community, Wakefield were confident of being awarded a spot.
Club Chairman, Craig Shepherd, was delighted with the news, “We’d ideally like to earn promotion the proper way but after two seasons of building, we are pleased to be recognised for our efforts and to be playing in the Premier next season.
“It’s also fantastic news that our Development team will be plying their trade in NERWFL Division 1 South, some welcome news ahead of their Quarter Final clash this coming weekend.”
“Trials will be announced shortly, it’s a really tough division and feeds directly into the FA Women’s National League so you’d expect the opposition to be high quality every week. Identifying players who are committed to training and playing each week will be key to our success.”
Trinity will come up against the likes of York City, Harrogate Town, Sheffield Wednesday and local rivals Ossett United in the forthcoming season.
